Today marks the day when Master Li Shutong became a Buddhist a century ago.
It is the fifteenth day of the Chinese New Year in 1918 that the Tiger Spring Temple of Hangzhou accepted the master’s request to become a Buddhist and gave him a religious name Hong Yi, who finished the tonsure later in July of the lunar calendar.
